F. Alan (“Al”) Goodman has extensive experience in
software process definition, implementation, and deployment for both
commercial and defense related industries. He has headed up several
software engineering process groups (SEPGs) for that real world
experience.
Al is considered a San Diego area process specialist. If you
are looking for consultation services to develop your processes
and provide implementation/deployment guidance,
Al's your man. He has a teaching
background and can train your internal employees to “grow” your process
specialists. Al has written two books (both published by Auerbach publishers) called:
-
“Defining and Deploying Software Processes” (ISBN 0-8493-9845-2)
-
"Process-Based Software Project Management" (ISBN 0-8493-7304-2)
What Al really brings to the table is a process framework architecture that
really works in incredible ways for your company. Al
has taught a 2-unit course on "Business Process Optimization" (CSE 40819)
at the University of California Extension based on his framework approach.
Process is process. Although Al’s background has been in
the software engineering field, his process framework model applies
equally well to manufacturing facilities, governmental agencies, doctor
offices, hospitals, and any regulated industry. In many ways, Al is really
in the operations excellence business. It just that you can achieve incredible
benefits via a solid process approach. His approach to process makes compliance
much easier – whether we’re talking about SW-CMM, CMMI, IEEE standards, ISO 9001,
IEC 62304, or Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
